They traveled around the coast of Ireland and then west across the Atlantic. They sailed north of Colomdus's route to avoid land claimed by spain.
He set off to reach China near the Arctic Circle. But changed his route to sail across the Atlantic instead because his crew was tired of the ice and cold, they then rebelled.
A slave decribed a land with gold, so Coronado marched across what we now call Kansas. But again he found no gold.

The purpose of the exploration was to find a faster route to the east indies.
His mission was to discover the Northwest Passage to the Indies and China.

Like Colombus, Cabot never knew he had reached a continent. But his voyage opened the way for English settlers to North America.
Hudson's crew rebelled and threw him over board. But his voyage did give engand a claim to eastern Canada.
Only Spanish priests thought his expedition had succeeded. It gave then a chance to spread Christianality to American Indians is the southwestern part of North America.
Convinced that La Salle was crazy, his own men murdered him. Although most of the colonists died, La Salle had given France a claim to the entire Mississippi Valley.
